Student advertisements- Ideas

For inspiration on how to present our advertisement after we got our images, I researched past students advertisements and came across a couple I liked the look of, such as:

But one caught my eye with its simplicity, which really would go with our genre of music; here it is:

The image is so simple and makes it
clear its the advert is about music.
It is overcrowded either with too much
text, there is just enough information
about the new single, who it is by, when
its out and an amazing quote at the bottom
to summarise it.

To see what ours could look like in this style, I had a go myself. I used paint and http://www.picnik.com/ (as photoshop is too complicated to even begin to understand and therefore use in the time i had) and heres to finished project:

Just like my inspired advertisement, the centre image is what our music is all about (Edie) and with the bold "Edie Sedgwick is back!" aswell. Ive also made use of the brick wall by scribbling Dylan's and Warhol's name on it which may capture people's attention who may have some interest in either of them.

To not make it that plain either, i added a little red colour (connating with desire, lust and even death) which is surrounding and even wrapped around Edie like it's suffocating her! Ive highlighted the bricks aswell so it's easier to read and grab attention. This technique is called "tint" in the effects section on picnik.com and you just go over black and white areas that you want to stand out :)
